How every study is read
The story elements
Every study is broken down using story elements every K-12 educator already teaches.
- Setting
- Where, and with whom. Answers “Does this apply to my school?”
- Characters
- The teachers, students and researchers inside the study.
- Plot
- What they tried and what happened.
- Conflict
- Where the evidence pushes back. We call it The Twist.
- Perspective
- Whose point of view the study captures, and whose it leaves out.
- Style
- The study design, and its evidence strength in plain words.
- Theme
- What all the studies add up to: The End or To Be Continued.
Evidence Label
To Be Continued
- Body of research
- 3 to 5+ studies
- Study designs
- Experiment, case study, survey
- Use with caution
- Every collection says plainly how strong the evidence is. “To Be Continued” means emerging or mixed; we revise the collection as new studies appear.
The End
The studies agree and are strong enough to act on.
To Be Continued
Evidence is emerging or mixed.
